Steps to take

Tax Search on the title report discloses water meter and sewer charges.  The Seller MUST obtain a Title Read Letter (Final Meter Reading) for each meter through the date of closing.  A request for a Title Read Letter must be made at least 30 days prior to the date of closing, a title read must have been requested by any of:

 

1. email sent to TitleReadRequests@dep.nyc.gov;

2. in person at a borough office of BCS;

3. by telephone to the BCS call center, 718-595-7000; or

4. by mail to DEP/BCS Customer Service, P.O. Box 739055, Elmhurst, NY 11373-9055.
